<image:caption>Mary is a native Tucsonan. She graduated from Tucson High School and the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She taught school in AZ and CA as a primary teacher and credentialed Reading Specialist. During that time, she earned a Master of Religion Education degree from the University of San Diego. Later, she attended Church Divinity School of the Pacific and was ordained to the diaconate in 1994 and to the priesthood in 1995 for the Diocese of California. Since ordination she has served in parishes in AZ, CA, NY, and VT. During those years she earned a Diploma in Congregational Development from Seabury-Western. She takes pleasure in helping to develop healthy, lively churches whose people love each other because God first loved us and then share that incredible love with their everyday communities. She and her husband John have three adult children. They spend a great deal of their time fixing up the Jefferson Park house where Mary grew up. She says, “It is an amazing blessing to be back home in Arizona and to have time with family and friends. If caliche did not exist, I think I would have died and gone to heaven.” Now to the question that everyone asks, “What do I call you?” Mary says, “If you feel you want to give me a title, Rev. Mary works. I know it is grammatically incorrect, but it works. Please do not call me “Mother Mary.” I grew up Roman Catholic and that will always mean the Blessed Mother to me.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Parish Leadership - Fr. Alex-Basil Swain, OSBCn</image:title>
<image:caption>Fr. Alex joined Saint Andrew’s in June of 2025 after graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary with his M.Div. in May. He serves as the part-time Vicar here, and as the part-time Assistant for Intergenerational Ministries at St. Philip’s in the Hills. He graduated from Hope College with a B.S. in Biology in 2016 and earned an M.S. in Integrative Systems Biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019 studying neuroscience. While in Virginia during seminary, he met his now husband, also named Alex! When not working, Fr. Alex and his husband, Alex Martinez (and their tuxedo-cat Nero) enjoy cooking food from around the world, going on walks, spending time with friends, and listening to music. Fr. Alex is fascinated by the intersection of science, ancient faith practices, and modern discipleship. He is a vowed member of an Anglican religious order called the Canon Orders of St. Benedict. He took his name after St. Basil and was ordained a priest in August of 2025.</image:caption>

<image:title>Parish Leadership - The Rev. Dr. Lisa Graumlich</image:title>
<image:caption>The Rev. Dr. Lisa Graumlich Deacon Lisa is a climate scientist whose ministry bridges the worlds of science and faith. She has devoted her career to investigating and sharing insights into impacts of climate change, especially on those most vulnerable and least responsible for global warming. She often speaks to world policy makers, urging them to act. She has represented the Episcopal Church and the scientific community at the annual United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP27, COP28, COP29). Lisa is deeply honored to serve as deacon at St Andrew’s. In her ordination vows, she promised to “serve all people, particularly the poor, the weak, the sick, and the lonely…. And to interpret to the Church the needs, concerns, and hopes of the world.” She is quite sure that she has found a wonderful home for her evolving ministry given St. Andrew’s commitment to serving the needs and opportunities of our urban neighborhood in the desert Southwest.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Education for Ministry (EFM) is a four-year lay education program that provides an opportunity to grow one’s knowledge of theology, church history, and Scripture. Centered around weekly seminar group meetings, EFM provides people with the education to carry out the ministry they are called to in baptism. Please contact the church if you are interested in joining a future class.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ministries - Communications Team</image:title>
<image:caption>The St. Andrew's Communications Committee ministry creates and manages the church's communications strategies, including our online digital and social media presence. Committee members respond to and forward email and voicemail, as well as write, proof-read, and publish The Acts of St. Andrew's (the weekly e-newsletter). We welcome anyone who has communications talents (writing, editing, layout, graphic design, organization, or social media) they would like to contribute!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ministries - Lay Readers and Acolytes</image:title>
<image:caption>Lay Reader and Acolyte roles are filled by volunteers. The acolytes assist clergy throughout the service by lighting candles and helping to set the altar for Eucharist. Lay Readers help enliven our worship by bringing scriptures to life by reading the passages aloud.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ministries - Altar Guild</image:title>
<image:caption>Altar Guild is a ministry of lay men and women who maintain and prepare the altar and its furnishings for worship. They work in teams, usually on Saturday mornings. The altar guild may also supervise church decorations and flowers. The Vicar appoints a leader and invites members to participate in the altar guild.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ministries - Neighbors Feeding Neighbors</image:title>
<image:caption>Since 2007 this ministry has provided more than a million meals to the food insecure in our community. Nutritiously prepared meals are made possible from donations by Independently owned restaurants and donations of fruits and vegetables from programs like Produce on Wheels. Volunteers prepare, package and deliver or prepare meals for pick up each week. Anyone who is food insecure, experiencing a life event that prevents them from preparing their own meals, and elders are among those who most often reach out for this service. Neighbors Feeding Neighbors is completely funded by donations. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to join one of our weekly teams (9 am to noon).</image:caption>
